About Exploring
Law Enforcement Exploring is a worksite-based program for young men and
women who have completed the 8th grade
and
are 14 years of age, or are 15 years of age but have not yet reached their
21st birthday.
Law
Enforcement Explorer posts help youth to gain insight into a variety of
programs that offer hands-on career activities.
For young men and
women who are interested in careers in the field of law enforcement,
Exploring offers experiential learning with lots of fun-filled, hands-on
activities that promote the growth and development of adolescent youth.
History
Explorer Post 17 (formally 2017) was founded in the 1970s. While the
post has become inactive two times during the past, we currently have
around 20 members on our roster. Explorers from Post 17 have gone on to
become police officers in Atlanta, GA, Madison County, IL, the Illinois
State Police, Alton, IL, and even the CIA.
Meetings:
Meetings are held every third Sunday of the month at 6:30pm in the Squad
Room of the Alton Law Enforcement Center, 1700 East Broadway, Alton, IL.
