Explorer Post 17 is open to young men and women age 14 to 21. Due to problems with the online applications, those interested need to go to the Alton Law Enforcement Center at 1700 East Broadway in Alton to the Command Center window (inside and to the right) and ask for an Explorer Application. These must be filled out and signed by the applicant and parent/legal guardian and returned to the department.

There are no residency restrictions for the post, we currently have many members from outside the city of Alton.
